Near Infra-Red Light

The Medical College of Wisconsin began a clinical trial testing Near Infra-Red Light as a treatment for LHON. The trial was treminated early.

This was based on a theory that the light “stimulates” mitochondria in the cells of the retina.

At the 2015 LHON Symposium the scientific panel did not agree with this theory, and some believe the light would do more harm than good.
